Joe Henein is an accomplished Executive Leader with a career spanning over 35 years in the Pharmaceutical industry, having worked with a number of Multinational Pharmaceuticals, covering many geographies including the USA, Europe, and the Middle East. Joe founded NewBridge in Middle East and North Africa (MENA) and before that he served as the Regional Managing Director of Wyeth Pharmaceuticals for MENA. From the global headquarters of Wyeth in the USA, Joe assumed the role of VP Strategic Marketing and Global Commercial Chair for a number of therapeutic areas, most notably Infectious Diseases, and also held the role of Therapeutic Area Head for Women’s Health Care, and served on various corporate committees. Joe has an active role in industry committees, including PhRMA MEAC Board as the Vice Chair and the Chair for the PhRMA MEAC Ethics Review Board. Joe is a frequent speaker in pharmaceutical congresses including compliance forums. Joe holds a PharmD. Degree.
Chief Financial Officer
Rida AlGhoul joined NewBridge as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in April 2018 and has over 25 years’ experience in banking and finance in Pharmaceuticals in Middle East and Africa region. He initially worked in Arab Bank, Jordan in Operational, Commercial and Credit and Risk Management roles. He moved to Pharmaceuticals in 2003, and joined Hikma Pharmaceuticals, holding the position of MENA CFO and Vice-President for MENA Finance & Operations. Rida then joined the Hawkary Group in Iraq as CEO and was responsible for the successful implementation of an accelerated growth strategy for the Group. Rida holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Statistics from the University of Jordan and a Masters in Financial Economics from the Hashemite University in Jordan.
Chief Legal Officer & Head of HR
Vanessa Edmunds joined NewBridge Pharmaceuticals in May 2013, and now holds the position of Chief Legal Officer & Head of HR. Vanessa started her career as an Employment Lawyer in Eversheds Law Firm (UK) in 1990 and was later promoted to Associate in 1996. She worked as an External Legal Consultant until 1999 and then as a HR Consultant until 2004. Vanessa has over 16 years’ experience in the Pharmaceutical industry having held senior regional HR leadership roles with Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, Pfizer and Baxter Healthcare handling all aspects of human resource management across multiple jurisdictions in the Middle East and Africa Region. Vanessa is a UK Qualified Employment Lawyer and holds an LLB Degree from the University of Birmingham (UK).
Hisham El Sayed M.D.
Dr Hisham El Sayed joined NewBridge in November 2012 and has held senior leadership roles in both Medical Affairs and Commercial, and he now holds the position of VP Commercial. He has over 20 years of experience in Multinational Pharmaceuticals in the Middle East and Africa Region. Prior to joining NewBridge, Hisham previously held various positions in Commercial functions and Medical Affairs for Wyeth Pharmaceuticals and Pfizer, and has experience in diverse therapeutic areas including Biologics, Immunology, Rheumatology, Vaccines, Anti-Infectives and Transplantation on both international and regional scopes. Hisham is a qualified Physician and holds a Doctor of Medicine (MD) Degree from the Faculty of Medicine, Mansoura University.
Executive Director, Regulatory, Market Access & Gov. Affairs
Ahmed Saeed joined NewBridge in 2017 and now holds the position of Executive Director, Regulatory, Market Access & Government Affairs. He has over 25 years’ experience in Pharmaceuticals in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Region, having previously held senior leadership roles in both Commercial and Marketing for Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, Pfizer and Hospira, and has worked in the Biologics, Immunology and Rheumatology therapeutic areas in the MENA Region. Ahmed holds a Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Medicine from Cairo University, and has an MBA from Strathclyde University in Scotland.
Mohammed Samir M.D.
Senior Director, Medical Affairs & Pharmacovigilance
Dr Mohammed Samir joined NewBridge in March 2020, as Senior Director Medical Affairs & PV. He has over 23 years’ experience in Multinational Pharmaceuticals in the Middle East and Africa region, having worked previously in Medical Affairs, Clinical Research, Regulatory Affairs, Commercial, Public and Corporate Affairs. Mohammed has worked in diverse therapeutic areas including Anti-Infectives, Vaccines, Neuroscience, Diabetes, Rheumatology, Pain Management, Palliative Care and Oncology. He previously held senior regional leadership roles in Medical and Regulatory Affairs in Eli Lilly and Mundipharma, as well as other roles in Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, Roche and Boehringer Ingelheim. Mohammed is a Medical Doctor, and graduated from Cairo University Medical School, Egypt.
General Manager Saudi Arabia
Tarek Safwat joined NewBridge in April 2018 as General Manager Saudi Arabia. Tarek has over 26 years’ experience in Multinational Pharmaceuticals in the Middle East and has worked for over 20 years’ in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Prior to joining NewBridge, Tarek worked for Eli Lilly in Saudi Arabia and during this time he held several senior Commercial and Market Access roles, including Market Access Director, KSA. Throughout his career, Tarek has built a very strong business network in the Kingdom and has gained significant knowledge and expertise to identify market access opportunities resulting in exceptional growth in market share and achievement of significant business success. Tarek holds a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy.
Misan Abu Rmaileh
VP- Business Development
Misan Abu Rmaileh joined NewBridge in November 2010 and has over 16 years of experience in the Pharmaceutical industry, and now holds the position of VP- Business Development. She started her career at Hikma Pharmaceuticals in Business Development and progressed to the position of Senior Business Development Associate for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Region. She later joined Aspen Pharma Group in Dubai as MENA Business Development Manager. Misan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy.
Senior Director, Strategy and Investor Relations
Rosie Khodeir joined NewBridge in July 2013 and holds the role of Senior Director, Strategy and Investor Relations. She has over 18 years’ experience in Pharmaceuticals and FMCG Multinationals in Africa, Middle East, Australia and New Zealand. Prior to joining NewBridge, Rosie headed up the Gulf Finance Division for PepsiCo International in Dubai. She started her career with PricewaterhouseCoopers Australia, and later moved to Wyeth Australia as Financial Accounting Manager and then joined Pfizer Nutrition, as Regional Senior Finance Manager AFME. Rosie holds a Bachelor of Business Accounting and Marketing Major and is a Member of The Institute of Chartered Accountants.
