Mr. Joe Henein
President & CEO

Mr. Henein is an accomplished senior pharmaceutical executive who has consistently achieved excellent results throughout his career extending over 29 years in the pharmaceutical industry and covering many geographies including; USA, Europe, and Middle East.

Prior to joining NewBridge, Joe was the head and Managing Director for Wyeth Pharmaceuticals in Middle East & N. Africa, based in Dubai. In his role, Joe transformed Wyeth in the region from an export operation to an integrated affiliate and led Wyeth to an unprecedented growth. The affiliate structure grew from 150 people to over 500 and revenues increased from M$ 70- M$ 430 in 5 years period (04-09). Joe was the driver and largely responsible for the annual procurement to the National Program in 7 countries in the region for Wyeth leading Vaccine. These record achievements marked the MEA as 2nd fastest growing affiliate in the corporation.

Prior to his role with Wyeth in Dubai, Joe lived and worked in Europe and the USA and assumed many roles with increasing responsibilities, including operational role for MEA and ECE, and also leading the Infectious Diseases Therapeutic Area as the VP and Global Commercial Chair, from the Wyeth World Headquarters in USA. In this role, Joe led the commercial efforts of a major Injectable Antibiotic – Tazocin – increasing its global sales performance from M$ 320 to M$ 650 from 2000-2004. This brand has eventually surpassed B$ 1.0 in sales. Joe also led the commercial efforts for the development of a phase II antibiotic until FDA fast track approval. Tygacil is now a first in class antibiotic with global sales of more than M$ 350.

Joe also served in many corporate and industry committees; as a member of Wyeth Development Council, and Development Strategy Board. Most recently he also served as Vice Chair for the PhRMA MEA committee and Chair of the PHRMA MEA Ethics Review Board.

Joe holds both Pharmacy and Business Degrees.

Garrett Vygantas, M.D.
Vice President, Strategy & Business Development

Dr. Vygantas spearheaded the efforts in establishing NewBridge late 2007 shortly after joining Burrill & Company's Venture Group where he was a Director and an Entrepreneur-In-Residence. He raised over $16MM in Series A & B financing rounds for NewBridge and led the efforts to in-licensed the Company's first Oncology and Metabolic Disease Therapeutics. Dr. Vygantas has since joined NewBridge team as a full time in the capacity of VP Strategy & Business Development and is responsible for identifying, evaluating, negotiating and executing business development opportunities, and leading corporate planning activities.

Before joining Burrill, Garrett was with Genentech's (NYSE: DNA) Market Planning Group involved in the commercialization and launch of Lucentis for the treatment of wet age-related macular degeneration, and prior to that he served on Cowen's Healthcare Investment Banking Group (NASDAQ: COWN) and at EntreMed in Business Development (NASDAQ: ENDM).

Garrett was a Board Observer on Nora Therapeutics, Proventys, and ProteoGenix and Ikano Therapeutics. He is a Co-Instructor at UCSF's Center for BioEntrepreneurship's "Idea to IPO" curriculum and has advised in the formation of numerous start-up biotech companies. Dr. Vygantas completed his Transitional Residency at the University of Pennsylvania and holds MD & MBA degrees from Georgetown University, as well as a B.S. in Biochemistry from Boston College. Garrett is also a member of the Kauffman Fellows Program from the Center for Venture Education.

Rasha Kandil
Director Regulatory, Quality & Government Affairs

Rasha Joined NewBridge Pharmaceuticals in April 2010, heading the Regulatory Affairs Department for the AfMET region. She has over 15+ years experience in the pharmaceutical industry with 10 years of expertise within Regulatory, Quality and Corporate affairs across the Middle East, Africa &Turkey. She was an active member within the regulatory industry groups and chaired the Iran Regulatory Working Group for 2 consecutive years. In addition, she has a Pharma sales and marketing background.

Prior to joining NewBridge, Rasha was heading the Regulatory Affairs Department for Aspen Healthcare of South Africa and in this role, Rasha set the strategic registration pathway for acquired products, and was a key leader in the establishment of the Aspen entity across the region resulting in seamless regulatory transition and building the company pipeline in compliance with the regional regulations. Prior to Aspen, Rasha was leading a senior regulatory position for 4 years in Wyeth MENA. At Wyeth she was responsible for the both Pharma and Nutritional products. She built and led a successful regulatory team that managed to register and price a number of NCE’s & line extensions, this contributing to the substantial growth of Wyeth in the region during this period. Rasha also spent 9 years in E. Lilly prior to t Wyeth, assuming the role of a regulatory manager based in Dubai & Lebanon. Ms. Rasha has certifications in advanced Regulatory Affairs and a BSc. degree in Pharmacy.

Meriem Taib
Senior Regulatory Affairs Manager

Meriem Joined NewBridge Pharmaceuticals in July 2010, and she is in charge of Regulatory Affairs of the organization in North Africa and Levant countries. She has over 7+ years experience in the pharmaceutical industry in the fields of Regulatory Affairs, and 2+ years experience in pharmacy.

Prior to joining NewBridge, she was handling, Regulatory Affairs for Pharmascience based in Montreal, Canada and was responsible for Middle East and North Africa markets. Prior to Pharmascience, she worked for Wyeth based in Dubai. In this role, she was leading the global product conformance project (GPC) and Regulatory matters to obtain registrations of Pharma and Nutritional products in a time record. Prior to Wyeth she also worked for Globalpharma, also based in Dubai, she was handling the registration of the In & Out sourcing products across Middle East, African and Asian markets.

Ms. Meriem has several certifications in Document Management System and a B.Sc. degree in Pharmacy.

Asyeh Abdelhamid
Manager, Operations and Business Affairs

Asyeh joined NewBridge Pharmaceuticals in January 2009 in the capacity of Business Manager based in Dubai overlooking the operations and business affairs of the organization. She has over 10+ years experience in the field of Operations, Supply Chain & Business Support in the Middle East.

Prior to joining NewBridge, she served as Manager, Supply Chain and Business Support for Amgen Middle East & Africa Business Operations. In this role at Amgen, she developed several customer support plans that resulted in increased revenue, customer satisfaction and seamless business operations. Prior to Amgen, she held positions of increasing responsibility at GlaxoSmithKline as an Export Executive (Pharma division), as well as Kodak (Near East) as Customer Services Representative for both the Health Imaging and Consumer divisions.

Ms. Abdelhamid received her BBA degree in Management and Marketing from the American University of Asia (Affiliated to the University of Houston, Clear Lake, Texas, USA).

Anita Sahagian
Marketing Services & Communications Manager

Anita joined NewBridge Pharmaceuticals in October 2010 as Marketing Services and Communications Manager for the AfMET region - Africa, Middle East and Turkey.

Anita has over 14 years experience in pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry. Prior to joining NewBridge, Anita was the Business & Partner Development Manager at Dubai Biotechnology Research Park, a subsidiary of TECOM investments, of Dubai Holding. During her employment with DuBiotech Anita worked on multiple scientific investment opportunities conducting various due diligence activities and market research tasks. Before moving to Dubai in February 2008, Anita was based in Vienna, Austria and was employed with Amgen in the medical department managing the CEE sponsored non-interventional and ISS clinical studies. Prior to Amgen, Anita worked in the medical department at Aventis (-Sanofi) and was responsible, amongst other things, to co-monitoring the oncology clinical trials. Anita started her career with Wyeth, there she held various marketing positions and gained extensive experience in the pharmaceuticals and nutritional products.

Anita combines a good background in the pharma - life sciences industry with an innate experience in public relations, communications and business development. Anita has life sciences & business background and holds a diploma in Clinical Research Associate and various certificates in medical sciences, cardiology and gynecological oncology.

Misan Abu Rmaileh
Business Development Manager

 

 

Misan joined NewBridge Pharmaceuticals in January 2011 in the capacity of a Business Development Manager overlooking the AfMET region. She has almost 7 years of experience in the field of Business Development.

Prior to joining NewBridge, she served as a Commercial Services Business Development Manager for MENA and Europe at Aspen Healthcare. In this role, through her previous experience in Business Development, she was part of the team that started the operations for Aspen Healthcare in the region. Before that, she was a Business Development/Competitive Intelligence Manager at Ferring Pharmaceuticals, responsible for developing opportunities for the MENA region. She also worked at Hikma Pharmaceuticals in the Licensing and Business Development division responsible for the MENA operations.

Ms. Abu Rmaileh received her B.Sc, Pharmacy from the University of Jordan in Amman and has completed a number of relevant trainings and conferences

Ahmed El Naggar
Gulf Regional Sales Manager

Ahmed joined NewBridge Pharmaceuticals in April 2010 and assumes the role of a Regional Sales Manager – Arabian Gulf Territories. Ahmed has over 18+ years experience in the pharmaceutical industry in the fields of Sales and Marketing in the Gulf Region.

Prior to joining NewBridge, he was the Sales Manager for Wyeth Pharmaceuticals based in Kuwait and was responsible of Kuwait Pharma Market for more than 17 years, in this role; he managed to expand the business in Kuwait resulting in sustained market growth and increased revenues, and thus contributed to a very successful business for Wyeth in Kuwait. Ahmed achieved many milestones for a number of franchises under Wyeth in Biological Products, Injectable Anti-Infectives, Oral Antidepressants, maintaining leadership in all therapeutic areas.

Served as a an active member of the Injectable Anti-Infective franchise Brand Team in Wyeth MENA and played a key role in the success of this franchise across the MENA region. Prior to Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, he had worked for GSK in Egypt.

Ashraf El Assaly
Field Sales Manager (U.A.E. / Oman / Yemen)

Ashraf joined New Bridge pharmaceuticals in January 2011 in the capacity of field sales manager (U.A.E/Oman & Yemen). He has +6 years experience in the pharmaceutical industry assuming sales & marketing roles in two of the major markets of the middle east (Egypt & the U.A.E).  Prior to joining New Bridge, Ashraf served as a product specialist at Hoffmann La Roche (U.A.E). In his role he managed to expand Roche business in the Rheumatology field boosting sales & enhancing the brands perception through designing & launching new marketing campaigns. Before joining Roche, Ashraf was a senior medical representative at Wyeth (U.A.E). During that period he actively participated in maximizing the sales revenues in his area of responsibility serving anti-infectives & CNS lines. His efforts were acknowledged by being awarded as ‘Best Representative’ in the MENA region in 2008.  Prior to moving to the U.A.E market, Ashraf was a member of GSK sales team in Egypt. He assumed sales responsibility of one of the strategic products in GSK. Offering creative, yet feasible business solutions, Ashraf succeeded in driving business to the next level. Ashraf holds a B.Sc. in pharmacy from Cairo university.

Elena Grigorova
Personal Assistant to President & CEO

Elena is a highly organized administrative assistant with expertise in providing executive support at a senior level. Prior to NewBridge she spent 7 years with Wyeth Pharmaceuticals MENA working as Executive Secretary for Medical, Sales and Regulatory Departments and most recently as Personal Assistant to the Managing Director. She brought quality and integrity to each of her assignments and gained the expertise in the operations of a pharmaceutical company.

Before moving to Dubai in 2001 Elena worked for 7 years for a Moscow branch of Econotech World-Wide Link, a US-based company specializing in the import and export of heavy machinery where she assumed various administrative and sales roles.

Originally from Russia, Elena holds a Bachelor’s Degree in the English Language from the Voronezh State University and successfully completed various in-house professional development programs with Wyeth.

Marlita Prina
Executive Admin

Marlita is a business administration professional  with over 18 years of diverse experience in Office Administration, HR Management , Event Management and Customer Support Function in Gulf Region.

Prior to joining NewBridge, she serves as Office Manager, Executive  AA & PA to GM for Eli Lilly And Company Gulf Regional operations. In her role at Eli Lilly, Marlita developed mastery in almost all aspects of administration, office management and secretarial practices, what deserves to be highlighted is the expertise in understanding pharma industry critical business operation processes by assuming additional role as Tender/Quotation Process Coordinator for the entire Gulf Region.  Marlita serves as a valuable contributor in the organization continuous success and sales achievements.

Marlita has business administration background and holds B.S.B.A Degree major in Accounting.
